Kineya Mugimaru - Cambridge

Generally speaking, restaurants in Cambridge are not cheap. This restaurant is relatively good value for money. It is not expensive, but it costs about 15 pounds per person. The food quality is average, so it is better than nothing.

I ordered a Laksa prawn udon in Lion yard shopping centre branch. The service is fast and fantastic. The taste is so good with a relatively low price.

One of the best places to eat in Cambridge. Portion sizes were perfect, pricing was reasonable and staff were really friendly - the same good quality also in delivery too. Will definitely be ordering/coming back many times :)

Came here for a quick lunch after a walk around cambridge. Quick was an understatement. The pure efficiency of the system was great to see. The self-ordering was simple to understand, food came quickly and the tray returns was also straightforward. Therefore although the restaurant was crowded during peak times, people were moving in and out fast, so no issue in finding a table. Food wise was great, flavours were there and the portions are big. However, I feel that a slight increase in generosity for the proteins that come with meals will greatly better the value. I had the katsu curry rice and the bowls are deceivingly deep, by the time I finished my chicken, there was half the bowl of rice and curry left. Overall recommended. Way better than other Japanese food options nearby.

As a customer, here's my honest perspective: I love your food, but the promise of 'affordable' created an expectation of value that wasn't met when I saw the portion size relative to the price. This risks making a great meal feel like a poor value, which overshadows the quality. I suspect this is a communication issue. If your approach is about concentrated flavors and premium ingredients, celebrating that directly would make the pricing feel justified. Simply changing your core message from 'affordable' to 'intentionally crafted’ or 'premium Japanese dining’ would completely reset expectations, ensuring customers like me come in ready to appreciate the true experience you offer.

Everything is amazing. The food, decoration and the service is as fast as I’d expect as it’s quite busy. My only complaint is how little seating there seems to be compared to customers coming in. They can’t add anymore obviously but it’s really hard to find one available. However, I’d say it’s worth the wait for a seat because the food is so heart warming and delicious !
